Identifying the signs of esophageal cancer in the early stage

Unless you undergo proper diagnosis, you never know whether you are suffering from esophageal or something else. So, the first thing to do in case of any esophageal complications is to identify the symptoms. However, this is not possible unless you have some basic knowledge about the esophageal cancer and the causes or risk factors. Esophagus cancer is mainly of two types namely – Andecarcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma. There is no way you can peep into your esophagus and know what is happening there. However, if you are feeling some sort of discomfort of pain, you can look for some sings. Here are some early signs of esophageal cancer and you need to be quick to consult the doctor if you come across these symptoms:
  • Weight loss without any effort
  • Painful swallowing or difficulty in swallowing food or water
  • Chest pain or chronic heartburn
  • Stomach acid and the food coming back up to your esophagus while making your feel the bitter or sour taste at the back of your tongue.
  • Vomiting
  • Frequent chocking while drinking or eating
  • Chronic coughing
  • Back and throat pain
  • Hoarseness in the throat
These are some early signs of esophageal cancer and you should not delay if you ever encounter these signs. In fact, all these signs or symptoms are also very closely associated with that of GERD. And, if the GERD or Acid Reflux is occurring due to the Barrett’s esophagus or Barrett’s disease, you are required to undergo proper treatment as early as possible as this may lead to esophageal cancer if left untreated for a long time.

The early signs of esophageal cancer may not necessarily be the signs of cancer. They may be indicative of the GERD complication. And, in this case, you may require treating GERD and not the esophagus cancer. The Barrett’s Esophagus causing GERD or acid reflux, however, can lead to esophagus cancer, and hence, it is advisable to treat it before it complicates the matter.
