Beware Of Foods That Cause Acid Reflux

How often do you suffer from acid reflux? Truly speaking, it is quite a common disorder. Yes, some suffer from it occasionally whereas others are troubled quite frequently. There is no need to worry if you suffer from acid reflux once a week. It is possible that you ate something that did not go well with your digestion system, or that you ate too heavy and you started feeling acid reflux. Also, there are certain foods that cause acid reflux and you need to avoid if they cause acid reflux in you. But whatever is the reason of acid reflux, if it is not quite frequent, or it is not that severe; you needn’t worry. You may not require going for medications. However, if acid reflux is occurring time and again, or you are feeling severe heartburn and discomfort; it is advisable to not ignore it. It is wise to get treatment as early as possible.
Foods to avoid
If you know which foods cause acid reflux, you can avoid consuming them. This would automatically eliminate acid reflux if it gets caused due to the foods. The citric fruits, chocolate & dairy products, spicy & fatty foods, caffeinated products, and carbonated beverages etc cause acid reflux. Adding tomato, garlic, and ginger etc in foods can trigger acid reflux and you need to be careful to avoid foods that cause acid reflux
Acid reflux and esophageal cancer
Acid reflux is not considered to be a fatal disease. However, if it is being caused due to the faulty valve or strangulated esophagus and it is left untreated for long, it may lead to severe consequences. It may also complicate the problem by triggering esophageal cancer. So, if you suffer from acid reflux and you experience dysphagia or difficulty in swallowing, you should be careful. Dysphagia, spontaneous weight loss, chest pain or burning pain in chest, worsening indigestion, and coughing and hoarseness etc are early signs of esophageal cancer and you need to be extra careful.
